The Ministry of Trade of Kenya jointly with the group "Di Bi World" launched a digital platform for optimizing the work of the port of Mombassa. The Kenya and Dubai Ports World (DPW) companies have officially presented an innovative system called the "National Single Window Port", aimed at increasing the efficiency of logistics processes in the port of Mombasa. This step became a landmark in the strategy of the state business and the use of economic reforms. The system is developed in partnership with the Kenyan company "EAP Logistics", and also implemented jointly with the Kenya Ports Authority and the government structure —Authority of Port of Mombasa (APM). The port of Mombasa is not managed by Dubai Ports World, but the new platform opens access to all port users — both from the government sector, and from the private one. The system will optimize the processes of cargo monitoring, shorten the time of formalities and increase the overall operational efficiency. The Minister of Trade of Kenya checked the project: "The system stands as a key element for the region, especially for the port of Mombassa, which serves over 12 African countries without access to the sea. This significantly increases the positioning of Kenya as a logistics hub of Eastern and Central Africa". The port of Mombasa, located on the East African coast, processes and transships containers, including transshipment cargo, which significantly increases the throughput of the port. The digitalization of the port allows to shorten the processing time and increase the throughput of containers. The implementation of the system integrates data between all participants in the logistics chain, including shippers, freight forwarders, cargo owners and customs brokers. This allows to save time on cargo handling by 30–40%, and also minimize risks and costs. The project is expected that the modern infrastructure of cooperation between the state and private companies in the African region can become a basis for the implementation of analog initiatives in other ports of the continent.
