Rising Violence Against Women in Kenya

According to the latest report, about 200 Kenyan women were killed as a result of violence against women in 2024, which is almost twice more than in the previous year. Violence in families is one of the most widespread social problems in this East African country.

According to the second report of the "SILENCE WOMEN" project, conducted annually together with the "Odoobo DIF" data analysis company and the mass information resource "Africa Answered", in 2024, such a number of women were killed in Kenya, while in 2023 this number was 95. Researcher-leader Patricia Andagu noted: "2024 has become the bloodiest year for Kenyan women, and it is especially noted that there are no signs of a decrease in this trend".

Women in the age group of 18 to 35 years made up the majority of victims. A decade was published shortly after the arrest of men in Nairobi under the accusation of trafficking and mutilating women's bodies, which he alleged was his wife.
